Today, the Chilean Central Bank reported foreign direct investment (FDI) figures through August of this year. According to its records, a net inflow of US$12.4 billion was recorded through the eighth month of 2026, a 28% increase from the same period in 2025, when FDI totaled US$9.7 billion.
InvestChile data shows that US$2.2 billion in FDI, primarily reinvested earnings, entered the country in August alone.
Since this data covers only the first eight months of the year, InvestChile notes that the figure is not a reliable indicator for future projections; however, it is within the range of the five-year average of US$12.3 billion.
The most significant component of the cumulative FDI flow as of March was reinvested earnings, which totaled US$9.8 billion. Equity capital amounted to US$2.2 billion and debt instruments to US$357 million.
The figures released today are provisional and will be reviewed by the Central Bank on November 18.
