InvestChile participates in V Investment in Tourism Forum in Buenos Aires

The Forum addressed issues that included the importance of tourism for economic activity, employment and the opportunities created for the sector by low-cost airlines.

InvestChile and the Undersecretariat for Tourism participated in the V Investment in Tourism Forum (inverTUR) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The event sought to contribute to the development of private investment in tourism products and connect the sector’s key players in a bid to facilitate this investment.

The issues discussed at the Forum included the importance of tourism for economic activity (in Argentina, it accounts for 3.7% of GDP and, in Chile, 3.2%), its contribution to job creation and the opportunities generated for the sector by new trends in the region such as the arrival of low-cost airlines.

Cristóbal Forttes, head of the Development and Investment Division of the Undersecretariat for Tourism, and Cristián Sagal, an InvestChile promotion executive, participated in the panel on the integration of investment flows between Argentina and Chile, which reviewed new collaborative and joint promotion strategies for events such as the ITB in Berlin, the world tourism industry’s leading trade fair.

In line with InvestChile’s work to attract foreign investment to the country, the Chilean delegation held bilateral meetings with companies interested in learning more about the development of tourism in Chile. They included Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Norwegian Air Argentina, Glamping Argentina, Amerian Hotels and Arakur Ushuaia Resort & Spa.
