InvestChile Executive Director Karla Flores participated this Wednesday as a speaker on the “Executive Education: Digital Transformation for the Public Sector” course, given by the Faculty of Economy and Business at the Universidad de Chile in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the AWS Institute.
The seminar is designed for high-level government officials. Its goal is to provide the necessary confidence and knowledge for the development of public policies focused on digital transformation, which can translate into better public services for the population.
Ms. Flores participated on the panel “Technology as an Engine of Economic Development,” where she was joined by the executive director of Data Observatory, Rodrigo Roa, and the president of the Asociación Chilena de Empresas de Tecnología de la Información (Chilean Association of Information technology Companies), Thierry de Saint Pierre.
During the discussion, Ms. Flores emphasized the importance for Chile of staying at the forefront in matters of technology. In this way, the country can attract sophisticated foreign investment, which, unlike investment in natural resources, provides the opportunity to generate development throughout the national territory.
“At InvestChile, we focus our strategy on generating the conditions to enable foreign investors to install their projects. By guaranteeing connectivity, data storage and available talent, investment in sophisticated services can be achieved in the different regions of the country, contributing to development and creating quality employment for inhabitants,” Ms. Flores stated.
