InvestChile signs a Strategic Alliance with the Arica and Parinacota Regional Government to Attract FDI to the Region

  • Juan Pablo Candia, Acting Director at InvestChile, celebrated the agreement’s formalization and highlighted its regional impact.

At an event marking a milestone in local economic development, the Arica and Parinacota Regional Government and InvestChile signed an inter-institutional collaboration agreement to boost foreign direct investment (FDI) in the region.

The agreement establishes a permanent framework to strengthen the promotion, attraction, facilitation and support of FDI in the region, in line with the National Strategy for the Promotion and Development of Foreign Investment and the region’s priorities.

This document marks the beginning of the 2026–2030 Regional Model for the Promotion and Development of Foreign Investment. It integrates InvestChile’s technical capabilities with the Regional Government’s local insight and leadership. Building on this, the region will develop a Regional Work Plan to clarify its value proposition, highlight competitive advantages, identify key sectors and outline specific investment opportunities.

The Regional Governor for Arica and Parinacota, Diego Paco Mamani, stated, “We will ensure our region does not miss out on investment, jobs or opportunities. We signed an agreement with InvestChile to attract investment that will bring multinational companies to Arica and Parinacota, create a production chain and foster collaboration with local businesses. We want more jobs and opportunities. That is what the Regional Government is striving for, and we will continue in that direction. We are going to provide the momentum needed to help the people of Arica and Parinacota advance.”

The initiative takes a technical and coordinating approach that includes diagnostic assessments and collaboration with public and private stakeholders. The main expected outcomes following this signing include creating a Regional Value Proposition and developing a portfolio of opportunities to present to international investors.

Efforts will also strengthen the Regional Government’s technical capacity and coordinate the local ecosystem, bringing together the public sector, businesses, trade associations, academia and suppliers.

The agreement will also drive the creation of tools for international positioning, progressively incorporating the “Invest Arica and Parinacota” brand. It will include facilitation, support, soft landing and follow-up mechanisms for investment projects.

Juan Pablo Candia, Acting Director at InvestChile, celebrated the agreement’s formalization and highlighted its regional impact. “This agreement with the Arica and Parinacota Regional Government marks an important step toward strengthening our joint efforts to attract foreign investment. As an institution, we are committed to promoting greater decentralization of investment and to bringing its benefits to all regions of the country.”

“Strengthening local capacity and coordination with the Regional Government is essential to identifying opportunities and promoting projects with growth potential. We hope this partnership will help revitalize the regional economy, create new job opportunities, empower local suppliers and strengthen the productive ecosystem in Arica and Parinacota,” added Candia.

InvestChile will serve as a technical partner and strategic advisor throughout the process, providing business intelligence, regulatory guidance and specialized knowledge about international investors.

As a result of this joint work plan, the Arica and Parinacota Region is expected to establish its own Regional Unit for the Promotion and Attraction of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in accordance with the institutional framework established by Law 20.848. This will equip the region with the capabilities needed to position itself as an attractive investment destination and help diversify and strengthen its productive matrix.
